The Friends of South High Foundation provides financial assistance and guidance to the students of South High School:
- to enhance their overall high school experience by enriching their academic, cultural and extracurricular experiences, and
- to support and enhance their ability to obtain higher education, vocational training, career assistance or other educational and learning experiences that may assure their better futures and their roles as contributing citizens.

The Foundation holds these principles to be critical to its success and to be the primary basis for its efforts and activities. The Foundation shall:
- Be a constructive influence in South High School by providing supplemental financing for special needs.
- Endeavor to provide the most benefit for the largest number of students in all of its assistance.
- Stimulate innovative programs designed to keep students in school so they complete their graduation.
- Provide a means for alumni, their families and friends of South High to return a portion of their experience and benefit by providing financial assistance and volunteering their time and expertise.
